Our Sweet Boy

Douglas has been talking non-stop about his "baby sister" recently. He has said a few things recently that are really sweet.

A few weeks back, he cuddled up on my lap, leaned down to my belly and said in a soft voice, "baby sister, I know it is dark in there, but don't be afraid. There are no monsters."

The other day, he was watching us get ready for church and after a period of deep thought, he offered, "Daddy, I think you should be my baby sister's daddy." Tony laughed and said it was a good idea. Douglas continued, "Mommy is going to be my baby sister's mommy." It is like he was sitting there thinking about all the alternatives and it just made sense for Tony to be the baby's daddy, since he is here already and he has been such a good dad so far. :) Tony then asked him if he was ready to share his mommy and daddy with his baby sister and Douglas replied, "Yes!" His tone of voice implied that he really did think the whole thing was his idea. In his own way, he was reminding us that he chose us as parents and that without him we wouldn't even be here. :) What a character!

This weekend he spent the night with his Nanny and Poppy and we met up at the Log and Timberframe Home Show on Saturday. Here Douglas and Nanny cuddle in a log swing.
