Birthday Boy

On the 12th, Douglas invited a bunch of friends to his 3rd birthday party. His cousins came down from Washington and the place was packed. We rented a huge Buzz Lightyear bouncy house that was so tall we had to rent the lobby of our church to house it. Buzz's helmet is probably 18' tall. The kids loved it!

When it was being inflated, Douglas put his hand on his forehead and exclaimed, "I can't believe it!" (see photo). The kids bounced and bounced, ate pizza and cake, and generally left exhausted.

Everyone was so generous and he received many wonderful gifts. After opening his Nama and Tapa's gift, he held onto the "Lord of the Beans" VeggieTales movie while opening the rest of his gifts. He had been asking for this movie for a while (calling it "Nordic Beans") and it was the first thing he wanted to do after his nap that day.

He is still talking about his birthday "comin' up" and we have tried to explain that you can't just "go to your birthday," but rather it comes to you. After this year's party, I don't know if he believes us.
