We just got back from a fantastic visit to New York City. My cousin got married in Brooklyn on Saturday, September 4th (literally at the base of the famous and beautifully picturesque Brooklyn Bridge) and we spent a few extra days taking in some sights, shows, and marveling at the size and activity of the city. It was great to see all my aunts, my grandmother, and lots of cousins. We took a bizillion photos and will post some to the album (see link to the right).We stayed at a bed & breakfast this time, rather than a traditional high-rise hotel. It was a beautifully-restored 1904 home on a quiet street in Brooklyn called the Lorilei. We highly recommend their warm hospitality to anyone traveling to the area. While we were in the "neighborhood" we spent Labor Day with the Hamiltons at their home in New Jersey. We went hiking in a lush state park and had ice cream in the charming town center. Their son took a spill on his bike, so after a run to the hospital and a few stitches we got back on the train. He is doing fine and undoubtedly had some great stories to tell his classmates on the first day of school (which was the next day).

I saw Douglas and couldn't believe how big he is! He is so handsome!
I'm jealous! We had made some tentative plans to celebrate our tenth in NY. We fell in love with that place during our trip last fall. Maybe we can plan a trip together sometime (you know, when we retire).
