We're Here!

Jennifer got the keys to apartment on Monday, the movers came on Tuesday, and Tony and the kids showed up exhausted on Friday night. It is so good to be together, even if it is surrounded by boxes. Douglas and Tony are putting together some stuff (crib, puff chair, shoe rack) and we are getting settled. We haven't downloaded pictures yet, so to the left is a glamour shot of our apartment complex. To give you a feel for the place, you should know that we can log into the Starbucks wireless hot spot from our dining room. :)

Douglas has been so excited about moving and having an adventure, he can hardly stand it. For weeks he has been asking, "Mama, are we moving to California?" "Yes, Dear." "Right this moment?" he'd ask expectantly. He asked about the "hotel" we'll be living in and when he found out that the apartment is smaller than our house, he was quick to retell the story to his Dad saying that his new "hotel was shorter than our house." I can't just imagine he thought we'd all have to stoop because the apartment was shorter than he was used to! Since I have been here for nearly a week, he told me to get the apartment ready and asked "can you teach me around when I get there?" I was so happy to "teach them around" today when they arrived showing him the playground, pool, the elevator, and getting them a free cookie at Whole Foods. Fun times!

In other news, Jennifer is commuting to the East Bay to the town of Union City over the San Mateo Bridge. The bridge is 7 miles long and connects Foster City/San Mateo to Hayward and the other communities along 880. It takes about 25 minutes from door to door (including the walk through the parking garage), which isn't bad at all for the area (but is a bit longer than the 4.5 mile commute in Oregon).
